When we brought Carlie on our farm, she was the deciding factor to include her dam in the package, and her cria fleece was so nice that the selling farm stipulated that they had to keep it! Carlie went on to win show ribbons for us in the ring before settling into her breeding dam role in our program. Her fine fiber had a soft handle, consistent crimp with long staple and good density, and a healthy shine that the judges noted.

Her crimpy & dense fiber with its good handle & staple length...

We jumped at the opportunity to breed to Leader's sire who was the son of a multiple champion / Judge's Choice herdsire. When Leader was born, the first thing we saw was that he was white, darn. But, wait -- white is an excellent color for any fiber producer and handspinner! From birth, he stood with an impressive confident and macho attitude but was gentle and easy to handle. With those tree trunk legs, dollface looks, and upright stature we just knew this boy was going to make a name for himself.

Unfortunately, the disadvantage he suffered was a lack of uniformity of crimp to his fiber, so that as a show farm we could not take him to the shows or move him forward in our breeding program. His fiber is great for fiber production -- with its staple, healthy shine, good handle & fineness. He will make a great fiber boy for anyone looking to concentrate more on fiber.
