2019 Education Seminars

REGISTRATION IS OPEN

https://www.alpacashowreg.com/

The Registration system now includes the price for education (HIGHLY subsidized) and a check-off box for you to select the individual sessions you want to attend.  THIS IS IMPORTANT TO DO AS WE NEED TO MONITOR INTEREST OF THE SESSIONS to insure space/seating!!

We are posting a Preliminary listing of Education in order to help you start planning.  You'll note that we have some great offerings and instructors.

HIGHLIGHT OF THE YEAR - Cheryl DeWitt, DVM is bringing her expertise and highly rated NEONATAL class to TXOLAN.  This will be an all day class on FRIDAY, Feb 15, 2019 from 8:30am to 4:30pm.  This class does have a separate price.  In addition, there is a class limit of 28-30 people.  We will monitor registrations and create a hold list for a possible Saturday class.

This course requires some special logistics that require our investment and we want your SPECIFIC COMMITMENT regarding attendance to determine the need for the second day.

If there are conflicts where demand exceeds course maximums, the decision regarding who is included in the classes will be prioritized based on the date and time of registration.  In addition, if we still have more than capacity for both days, we will need to ask that ranches choose only one attendee versus two to allow the maximum number of ranches to gain benefit of this course. Since Saturday is competition day for our Premier members we will need to prioritize Friday to allow the Premier members to attend the education on that day.  That would mean Education members and General Public would be focused on the Saturday offering.

In either case, there is a subsidized additional charge for this course to allow the organization to hopefully break even.

The per attendee charges are:

Premier $90, Education $150 and General Public $250.

The first item will be the return of the free ranging, highly informative Business Forum titled "How to Make a Profit as an Alpaca Rancher in Today's Economy".  There will be a moderator and three ranchers representing small, medium and large ranch perspectives.  Currently our ranchers are:
NORTEX ALPACAS, HEALING SPRINGS SURIS and MOOSE CREEK ALPACAS (tentative).
Each of the ranchers will give 2-3 key pearls for success based on their experience in their environment.  The class will then be primarily Q&A for you to take advantage of these speakers vast and varied experiences.  We do ask that you start submitting questions ahead of time for best results.  You can send them to our Member-at-Large Amy Yoste at amy.yoste@gmail.com.

Scott Miller has confirmed that he will be able to be here!  If you know him, contact him and let him know how excited you are that he will be here to impart some of his excellent knowledge and experience.  How much experience you ask?  In 2000, he and his relatives purchased "the most expensive alpaca of that day" nicknamed Legacy!  Scott's been a key part of Crescent Moon ever since and also completed the training at the International Alpaca Judging School in Peru.  He will be speaking on "HerdSire Selection" and "Breeding for a Competitive Edge".  His knowledge and pearls will help you on the road to improved herd quality and profitability! Also check out their auction item - EDUCATION with a DESTINATION!!
