2017 Speakers and Education Schedules

REGISTRATION IS OPEN

https://www.alpacareg.com

The Registration system now includes the price for education (HIGHLY subsidized) and a check-off box for you to select the individual sessions you want to attend.  THIS IS IMPORTANT TO DO AS WE NEED TO MONITOR INTEREST OF THE SESSIONS to insure space/seating!!

We are posting a Preliminary listing of Education in order to help you start planning.  You'll note that we have some great new offerings and instructors.

The first new item will be a free ranging, highly informative Business Forum titled "How to Make a Profit as an Alpaca Rancher in Today's Economy".  There will be a moderator and three ranchers representing small, medium and large ranch perspectives.  Currently our ranchers are Denise Reiling of Reiling Ranch Alpacas representing small ranches; Gina Glasscock of Legendary Alpacas LLC will discuss the medium size ranch perspective; and Joe Miller of Miller-McMahon Alpacas, LLC for large.  Each of the ranchers will give 2-3 key pearls for success based on their experience in their environment.  The class will then be primarily Q&A for you to take advantage of these speakers vast and varied experiences.  We do ask that you start submitting questions ahead of time for best results.  You can send them to our Education coordinator Jeannie Wells at jeanniek13@me.com.

Rhonda Deschner, MD.  Most of you know her or at least of her.  She has been in the business as long as anyone in Texas and will give us an overview of the newly approved Embryo Transfer program.

Roo Kline will be rejoining our event.  Roo is a nationally acclaimed fiber artist and enthusiast.  She is highly regarded in the fiber arts community and will be offering some new seminars on things like "Bridging the Gap" which talks about how to connect to the fiber community to help sell and publicize your ranch's products and fiber!  She will also offer opportunities to learn about how to use your fiber which can be both fun and provide some enhancements to your profit margins on products!

A number of new/returning after absence faces will also be arriving and working with us.

New to us is Andrea Nissen, an award winning fiber artist based in Fayetteville, North Carolina with an impressive history.  She was a speaker at the AOA National Fleece Conference this past summer and recently became an AOA Accredited Spin-Off Judge.  For more about Andrea, here is a link to her website - http://ionarosestudio.weebly.com/about.html  Andrea will present a number of fiber art-related talks and hands-on classes

Jay Reeder also recently spoke at the National Event though he is a Marketing person.  He has agreed to bring his National presentations and more to TXOLAN!!  At National he spoke on "How to Make Money on the Internet" and "How to Easily Sell Alpaca Products".  This one should help you on the road to profitability!

Ron Naylor, DVM of Granbury Animal Clinic will be attending our show for the first time and will speak on FAMACHA.

Patti Maness, DVM will speak on on two topics:  Gastrointestinal Parasites: The Guts and the Goo; and Ultrasound in Alpacas: Females & MALES, too! (Dr. Maness will also be the Onsite Vet, plus offer some special services such as ultrasound testing).

Pam and Jeff Bush are returning after a bit of an absence and we are excited to see them again, as they are great teachers with fabulous experiences.  They will lead us through preparing for the shearing process and will also discuss the "watch outs" surrounding rescuing animals.

Amy McCroskey is returning after a long absence and this is very exciting especially if you know her long history with FLEECE, alpacas, and alpaca industry service (a past President of AOA).
